A Decade of Love

I can’t let the day go by without writing about my other half. Today is our 10 year anniversary. Wow! An entire decade has gone by and we’re still together. With the chaos of every day life, it’s easy to take the time we have together for granted. I just want to thank God for blessing me with such a wonderful friend and husband. Who would’ve guessed that these two crazy youngins, with a seven-year difference would make it this far. All we ever heard was: “He’s too old.” “She’s too young.” “You won’t have anything in common.” And you know what? There were instances when we felt we just didn’t mesh, but God had more in store for us.

I won’t get too mushy with this post, but I can remember the exact moment I fell in love with you. I fell hard, and I’ve been falling ever since. The years have been kind to us because we have our health, we have our children, and we have each other. Yes, we’ve had our rough patches…very rough patches, but I have to say that we grew stronger, both individually and as a couple, because we’ve learned to center our relationship around God.

Two Crazy Love Birds

We’ve learned to be kind to one another, which is difficult when two people are growing up…personalities change, and we have to learn to adjust to those changes.

I can honestly say that I love the man you are today more than the man I first married, only because you, like fine wine, have gotten better with age. I hope that you love me more today than when you first met me. I’m no longer that silly young girl; the ups and downs of life have made me stronger. They’ve made you stronger, and I’ve seen you become a husband and father (that you really didn’t have), and I thank God for that. You work so hard to provide for us, and for that I’m appreciative.

10 years in the making

You will forever have my love. May God continue blessing our marriage and our family for many more decades.

“Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each, making allowances for each other’s faults because of your love.” -Ephesians 4:2
